You should perhaps consider a visit in Alsace (Ste-Marie-aux-Mines Show end of June and museums) so you can easily pay a visit to the Clara mine in Germany where collecting is much easier than in France...

French operators of quarries are not really known as being friendly with the mineral collectors.

okay, thank you very much. Yes the clara mine, we visited already. This year we want to spend our holiday in France so I thought your country has possibilities.

esor6, the part of France does nt matter, just there where it is interesting for searching a couple of days.

Someone told me you can find some minerals on the beach in Normandie .

thank you very much for helping me !

If you go to Normandy you should combine it with Britanny - as Normandy is not very rich in mineral localities.

If you can get good contacts with the society in charge of the dump, you might visit Chessy on your way to the Alps (some members are here).

After visiting the Chamonix museum, I suggest you to stay in Bourg d’Oisans, so you can combine hiking in nice landscapes with mineral collecting (mainly quartz).

There are many regions to collect minerals in France, but you don't need to focus on quarries, or do visit quarries with the help of local contacts.

Choose the region first, then we will find helpful contacts for you!

bonjour

So, now we know where we are going to! Bretagne it will be!

Together with my family we decided to go to this special area.

We saw on internet pictures of Ploumanac, perro guirec and pink granit, and strange rocks, I have never seen before, so different!

If you have new ideas for me, places to find minerals it completes our vacation,

thank you again

Have you seen the "Qui Dansent" post ? he propose the visit of the "L'Orme Farm", it's an animal parc with a very nice private mineralogical museum. The owners are 1Frangin and 3Frangin and they know a lot of things about french mineralogy

Truly yours, Serge
