Ammonites du Bajocien inférieur du sud de l'Espagne

Bonjour.

Ces ammonites appartiennent probablement Bajocien inférieur, mais il peut être le Aalénien supérieur. Les deux premiers, petit, Je suis sûr que je fais partie de la famille de graphoceratidae, mais je doute entre Graphoceras, Ludwigia.... Le 3 et 4 je pense sont Sonninia (Euhoploceras) modestum. Ils mesurent environ 8 cm. 5 je pense que c'est aussi un Euhoploceras, mais pas sûr. Il mesure environ 3,5 cm.

The fauna seems to be from Aalenian

To me the first two looks like Ludwigia, and the fourth eventually might a Leioceras

Thanks for the reply.The area has fauna from the upper Aalenian (concavum zone) to the middle Bajocian (humphresianum zone). These ammonites could be concavum zone. The first two had thought microconchs of Ludwigia (Pseudographoceras) umbilicata. What do you think?

Are there a rupture in the stratygraphy succession of this are between Upper Aalenian and middle Bajocian ?

Where starts the body chamber ? Microconchs are plausible with this kind of fauna but I don't know very well about Graphoceratids. This family is very hard to identifying because species are numerous and and there are differents aspects between the differents authors.

But we can say that Ludwigia umbilicata (BUCKMAN, 1899) is similar with your specimens.

Sorry but I did not understand your second question, I do not understand english well. According to a study about this area there is no stratigraphic continuity, but I have to say that these ammonites not found in-situ. I also found two specimens of Otoites and other of Emileia belonging to lower Bajocian, surely of sowerbyi or sauzei zones. Unfortunately in this study does not discuss the graphoceratidae and sonniniidae.

Any idea with the last ammonite?

Heu.... pourquoi vous êtes passé en anglais?? comment il font les nul en anglais comme moi pour apprendre à identifier les ammonites en vous lisant ?

Je me suis dit que vu que ce membre était espagnol et vu que je ne parle pas un mot il serai préférable de passer à l'anglais

I ask you about the "body chamber", it is the morphological part of the shell where the ammonite lived. You can find where the body chamber starts when the sutures lines stopped.

If the last ammonite is from Bajocian you can see in the work of Rafael Sixto FERNANDO-LOPEZ (1985), El Bajociense en la Cordillera Ibérica.

Ah ok, mais comme à son écriture j'ai même pas vu qu'il était espagnol, pour ça que j'étais étonné. Pour moi c'était un français qui était allé gratouiller dans le sud de l'Espagne.

Ok, here we call room chamber. In all specimens the body chamber occupies approximately half a turn, except in the second that I do not distinguish the suture line. Anyway these specimens have no peristome, so surely are not complete.

Thanks for mentioning the work of Rafael Sixto, I downloaded a few days ago and I could not remember who had it. I'll look to see if it appears there.
