French-speaking Exploration Geologist (iron ore) – West Africa

There are 2 positions of Exploration Geologist, based in West Africa. The successful candidates will report to the COO and Exploration Manager. The candidates will be responsible for drilling and resource estimation as part of the pre-feasibility study for the project.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Manage a team of local geologists, including mentoring and development of staff

• Manage technical aspects of a pre-feasibility study, primarily a c. 15 km and 200 km drilling programme (mixed DC and RC), mapping and sampling, topographic survey

• Drive and lead safety initiatives across the geological team

• Data acquisition, design, implement, interpret, prioritise and report drilling programs

• Ensure that geological standards and QA/QC requirements are maintained by geological team

• Assist the Management regarding exploration contractor management

• Assist the Management in exploration planning / strategy and budget preparation / management

• Ongoing reporting of exploration results

Profile:

• A degree in Geology from a recognised institution, the relevant qualifications and memberships in order to be able to act as a Competent Person to release exploration results and mineral resources/ ore reserves estimates

• 5 to 10 years of experience in mineral exploration, development and prospect generation

• Previous involvement in pre-feasibility studies

• Knowledge of drilling operations

• Iron Ore exploration experience a must

• Excellent communication and reporting ability.

The ability to speak French will be required.

Salary depending on experience and qualifications (USD + housing benefit, yearly bonus in either cash or stock options based on performance, medical cover, 6 weeks on including weekend and 2 weeks off, 2 return airline tickets from country of operation to home per annum.
