Position in Geo-sciences

________________________________________

Research Associate m/f on Numerical Modeling of CO2-Transport Processes and Reaction in Rocks

Our Profile: EIFER is a joint research institute etablished by EDF and the University of Karlsruhe, located in Karlsruhe (Germany). Its research activities are focused on energy and the environment. The projects undertaken by EIFER, in partnership with KIT and other academic and industrial entities, are commissioned by Public Authorities (European, German, French) and by the companies of the EDF Group (EDF, EnBW, EDF Energy, Electricité de Strasbourg).

One of our activity focus on geothermal energy and carbon dioxide sequestration in geological reservoirs. We work on geothermal and geophysical issues with both numerical and experimental methods. We develop numerical programs to find solutions to direct and inverse problems in the simulation of reactive transportation processes.

Your Profile: You hold a PhD in geo-sciences. You are experienced or at least familiar with numerical reservoir or sedimentary basins simulations, preferably reactive multiphase-multicomponent flow processes and geochemical processes. You have a sound basic knowledge in general geology for instance rock mechanics as well as in structural geology. You are experienced in mathematical and statistical data processing and programming. Furthermore, you are a team player with excellent oral and written communication skills in English and preferably also in French or German.

Your main work focus is on the:

- Interpretation and processing of experimental results and various geological, petrophysical and geochemical data towards numerical modelling

- Set-up of different geological models for numerical simulations

- Numerical simulation studies of reactive multiphase-multicomponent transport processes including parameter- and sensitivity studies

Our offer:

The position is to be filled as soon as possible and is for a fixed term of three years with a further possible extension. Regular working hours are 39,5 hours a week. A PhD is required. The pay scale classification complies with the labour agreement TV-L of the German civil servant working at the university.
