IMO update 1415 local time today (https://www.vedur.is/um-vi/frettir/jardhraeringar-grindavik):

The eruption that began on March 16 remains constant

Landris continues at a similar pace since the beginning of April.

Risk assessment is valid until April 16, all things being equal

There is still a risk of gas pollution. Advise people in the area to monitor air quality.

Gas distribution forecast can be found here.

The eruption that began in the Sundhnúks crater series on the evening of March 16 is still ongoing. One crater remains active as it has been since April 5. Lava continues to flow south from the crater but does not reach far and the lava bed continues to build up close to the crater. There are no clear signs of lava advance at the dikes north of Grindavík, Suðurstrandarveg or Melhólsnámu. Landris in Svartsengi continues at a similar pace, but at the beginning of April its speed increased compared to the period from the eruption on March 16 to the end of the month. It indicates that the majority of the magma that flows under Svartsengi gathers there, causing increased pressure and land mass. During the eruption, however, there is still an open connection between the magma collection area in Svartsengi and the Sundhnúks crater series, and part of the magma flows to the surface there. Variations in the land mass can be seen between days, but overall the speed has been constant since the beginning of April. The risk assessment remains unchanged and is valid until 15:00 on April 16. There is still a risk of gas pollution from the volcanic eruption, which can cause pollution in the built-up Reykjanes Peninsula, and we advise people in the area to monitor air quality and familiarize themselves with the reaction to air pollution from the volcanic eruption. The weather forecast today is northerly 8-13 m/s, but slower tomorrow. The gas pollution then travels to the south. It will change to a more westerly direction late tomorrow and then gas pollution will reach the east.
